About the Pragmatic Carbon Accounting Alliance

The Pragmatic Carbon Accounting Alliance is built by and for the leaders who want to drive impact.

It’s all one planet. We all benefit when we decarbonize faster – which means ensuring buyers have the flexibility to invest where there is the most need.

The PCAA is concerned that new GHG Protocol Scope 2 guidance will make it harder for companies to participate in voluntary carbon markets by raising the barriers to market participation. This flexibility is key to helping the world achieve its carbon reduction goals.

The PCAA agrees we need strong carbon accounting principles. But we also believe that the world is better off with more companies participating in the system.

What's at Stake: Voluntary Market Momentum

Today, buyers have options. They used them to buy over 21.7 GW through voluntary procurement deals in 2024

But, experts are worried. "That momentum could be hindered without changes to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s ongoing revision process."
